Championship Results

Congrats to the inaugural Final Table Champion, David Moss (dcm03). He was able to survive the field and take the title and really only had one scare along the way. His stack almost took a critical blow in an early call to JAY LITT's all in. JAY showed his AQ to dcm03's A4 in a pre-flop showdown. The flop gave both of them top pair with an ace, but JAY LITT had best kicker. Fortunately for the future champ, the turn spiked a four and the river didn't improve either hand.

A key run of hands built dcm03's chip stack considerably as he caught AA, KK, and AK in three straight hands. The heads up match at the end brought him up against IsItJorK and lasted about 10 hands. dcm03 showed his pocket jacks on the final hand with IsItJorK showing an A. The board came rags and Moss took the title. Congrats to the top five finishers (shown in the column to the right).

I hope everyone enjoyed the season and as I mentioned at the tourney, season II will begin on May 3rd. Priority registration will be given to current players until April 15th, after that it will be open to new registrants. I already know of at least four new people that would like to sign up, so if you want to keep your spot be sure to respond quickly once I send out the new season information.

Once again, I would like to thank All In Chips for providing the chip supply at the final tournament. Please check out their website for all your poker supply needs including chips, tables, and more.

Cheers.

AKPL Season I Final Standings

It was a successful inaugural season and it was a close race to the end. Congrats to the top five finishers: Stumblinwrek, mjb0707, tmanders10, IsItJorK, and Limp Money.

Stumblinwrek took over the top spot in the second to last week and held on to be crowned the regular season champion. Let's see if he can defend his position at the Championship Tournament this weekend.

I hope everyone enojoyed it and I will see you all on Saturday. Here are the final results:

03/22 Tourney Results

There wasn't a full field for the final regular season tournament, but it was still interesting. Limp Money overslept the start time and put his money finish in danger, but cnk01 and cappyuga were unable to capitalize with finishes strong enough to over take him.

After having a slow season, Slick2k got his second straight money finish getting 3rd this week after the win last week. tmanders10 was gunning for 2nd in the standings with a win tonight, but instead came in 2nd in the tournament. Congrats to JAY LITT for the weekly win. Here are the results for the tournament:

Note: As the rules state the points for the final four positions (that didn't play tonight) were added up and divided equally among the four.

Standings as of 03/15

Well a money finish is still in the picture for seven people going into the final tournament with no guarantees for anyone. There are only 30 points separating the top five finishers and seventh place is only 20 points behind 5th. It was a bad week for the points leaders as the top two let 3rd through 5th back into the race for the Points Championship.

Let's see what kind of strategy the leaders take going into the final tournament. Here are the standings:

green = the nuts (in the money)
yellow = limping in (still has a chance)
red = drawing dead (mathematically eliminated)

03/15 Tourney Results

Well not much commentary on this week's tournament. Been too busy focusing on golf all weekend. So 90 holes later here are the results:

UGA Represents

A freshmen from the University of Georgia, Jeff Williams, has made it to the final table of the European Poker Tour Grand Final and (as I type this) is the chip leader with only five people remaining.

Jeff qualified through PokerStars and is seeing his first live action tournament. Nice showing. He stands to take home at least €168,000 with going to the winner (Euros). Good luck to Jeff and maybe he can continue to represent Georgia well.

Update:
Jeff Williams comes through in the end and takes home the €900,000. Nice little pay day for someone who can't legally gamble in the states yet (he's 19). After building up a monster stack Jeff pushed the table around and took a lot of pots. The final hand saw the runner-up going all in with A8 off and Jeff making the quick call with A10 off. Boards was rags and Jeff took home the title.

GO DAWGS!!!

AKPL Standings (as of 03/08)

Race to the Finish

It got tighter than mjb0707's butthole at the top of the leaderboard this week (b/c of his tight play...get your mind out of the gutter). After another strong finish by Limp Money, he is only in 2nd by 1 point. The top three are only separated by 8 points and the top seven are separated by 47 points. Top five is still up for grabs and the last two tournaments are going to be important for the leaders.

On the flip side a few players were mathematically eliminated from a money finish in the standings. There is still the final tournament to play for and it will be interesting to see if any of the guys at the bottom of the table can play spoiler to the leaders and bring 'em back down to earth.

Here are the standings as they...uh ...stand right now:

green = the nuts (in the money)
yellow = limping in (still has a chance)
red = drawing dead (mathematically eliminated)

03/08 Tourney Results

Week of Three??

It seemed to be the week of three as a few things are happening consistently:

1) Lowryder put out dcm03 very early for the third week in a row
2) Limp Money put out tmanders10 out late for the third week in a row
3) cappyuga got his third top five finish without finishing in the money
4) Stumblinwrek got his third money finish and is the leading money finisher
5) cnk01 got his third top five and his third money finish

cnk01 got his first win this week in a walkover with wazhappninjj (2nd) and Stumplinwrek (3rd) just fighting for the left overs. Props to mjb0707 who's Big Slick ran into trip jacks very early in the tournament and took a hit down to 180 in chips. As predicted by cnk01, he grinded it out all the way to a 6th place finish.

Here are the final results for the tournament:

Championship Info

What’s the deal?
Expected arrival time is between 3:45 and 4:15. At 4:15 the tournament directors (TD) will begin with a discussion of blinds, seat assignments and movement of players between tables. The first hand will be dealt at no later than 4:45. Same rules apply as weekly tournaments, if you're not there by this time, your chips will be blinded out.

Seat assignments will be decided by drawing cards. Each seat will be assigned a card A – 10, hearts (red) and spades (black). Players will draw from either the A - 10 of diamonds (red) or the A - 10 of clubs (black). If you draw 3 of diamonds (red) you find your spot at the 3 of hearts (red), etc. In order start out with an even amount of chips at each table, the pile you draw from will be determined by your final position in the standings.

The blind shedule will moved based on the number of hands played and not by time. Each blind level will last 10 hands and will be monitored by the TDs. The TDs will ensure that one table does not move too far ahead of the other by pausing play at the faster table in one of two situations:

1) at the end of a blind level
2) any time player movement is necessary.

Any time player movement is necessary the player with the smallest chip stack will move from the table with more players to the table with less players and will sit in the position most similar to his previous table in relation to the button.

Tables will be combined to one table when there are ten players remaining. TDs will be responsible for all shuffling and will assist with dealing once a position becomes available at each of the tables.

Payout deals cannot be made until there are two players remaining. At heads up play, it is up to the remaining two players to decide if they wish to chop the pot or play out to the finish. Should the players decide to chop, money will be split according to their negotiations, but play will continue to determine the AKPL champion. All heads up negotiations must be made prior to the beginning of heads up play.

AKPL Standings (as of 03/01)

A couple of the leaders had a slower night tonight and allowed some people to catch up. Only 50 points separate 1st from 7th and it's still wide open for a lot people. Here are all the updated standings:

03/01 Tourney Results

We almost had a new money finisher this week as Michael Bass (mkb02) played strong, but at the last minute took a hit on the river and finished in 4th. Well played.

Dan Perritte continues to play well after a slow start and gets a money finish for the second week in a row placing 3rd.

Sean Chambers (Limp Money) put out Todd (tmanders10) for the second week in a row as part of a pretty quick heads up match. At least he didn't suck out this week. Here are all the results:
